In Memory of Catherine (Gail) Breene
June 6, 1944 – May 9, 2017
After several months of declining health, Gail entered heaven on Tuesday May 9th, 2017 at the age of 72. Beloved wife of George Breene and much loved Mom of Tanya Garvie (Scott). Cherished Nanna and “Della” to Bella. Predeceased by daughters Tammy (1972) and Glynnis (1974).
Gail battled dementia and congestive heart failure for many years but did so graciously, with an infectious smile. Family and friends will remember her with affection for her gentle spirit, laughter and her loving hugs.
She was involved in Church Community from a young age. Over the years, Gail was actively involved in Women’s Ministry, Adult Fellowship and led several Children’s Christmas productions bringing joy to both herself and others.
Gail offered warm hospitality to all, and her table was often “home” to those who had no other, especially during the holidays.
While raising her daughter, Tanya, Gail offered daycare in her home for over 25 years. Many of those children reached adulthood crediting “Auntie Gail” for modelling Christ-like love in their lives.
Gail leaves a legacy of love and faith in the hearts of all whose lives she has touched. She will be dearly missed.
The family invites you to celebrate Gail’s life by dropping into St. Ann’s Community Church at 5425 Twenty Mile Rd (Regional Rd 69), St. Ann’s, ON between 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm on Tuesday May 16th, 2017 (casual dress). Light refreshments will be served.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Bible League Canada in support of Children’s Ministry Programs in Canada. This can be done through the funeral home (merritt-fh.com) and during the reception time.
