I haven’t been able to write for a while, still getting over the shock, but today I want to share with you from my heart:
When I think of your Mom, I think nurturer, compassionate, kind, hospitable, generous, faithful, and loving mother. I witnessed her talents, and was on the receiving end of many of her blessings.
When we became friends 28 years ago, she welcomed me into her home; nicknaming me “Shelley”, which was funny because no one ever called me that (and never will).
When I became a teen Mom, she never turned her back or passed judgment; instead “Auntie Gail” welcomed and loved Patrick as she would her own. I remember that time she told the church that they could use Patrick as the baby Jesus in the Nativity play.
Anyone who knew “Auntie Gail”, knew that there was just so much room in that heart of hers! That was no secret.
She exhibited the Faith that my Mother instilled in me, bought me my very first ‘grown up’ bible, as well as exposing me to the Gaithers (which is why I am a Gaither groupie - LOL). Remember when we went to see the Gaithers at the ACC, and somehow she made her way to stage level so that Patrick could be up close and personal; AND took him to get a CD signed by Lynda Randall. LOL! She was full of spunk and determination.
I love your Mom as I do my own, and will be forever grateful to you for sharing her with me.
