Lucien Joseph Rene

July 23, 1945-June 27 2024

 

It is with great sadness that we announce to family and friends that Lucien  passed away peacefully and with dignity after a brief but fierce battle with cancer. He took his last breaths at West Lincoln Hospital under the watchful care of the nursing staff in ICU.

 

Lucien was born in RM Lawrence, Manitoba on July 23, 1945 and was raised mostly in Nicolet, Quebec.

 

Predeceased by parents Joseph Ludger Rene and Ann (Hnalyshen) Rene and also by a brother Roderick. Lucien is survived by his loving partner of 55 years Dennis Tuck and his much loved nephew Dennis Lucien Rene and niece Marilynn Rene-Tellier.  He will also be missed by his close friend Andrew Falardeau in Quebec and his many neighbors, friends and adopted family in Smithville. He will be greatly missed by his pampered fur babies Geronimo and Angel.

 

Lucien and Dennis spent these last 11 years in the friendly town of Smithville where Lucien became a highly respected, and much loved citizen who showed others the way to be better citizens themselves in the town he grew to love.

 

He obtained his business experience in banking and transportation with extensive knowledge in the field of  licensing of trucking equipment and drivers. He also spent many years in the management of several condo units and enjoyed his involvement with charities with his point of pride being the Casey House (AIDS) in Toronto. In 2015 Lucien was honored with the Fellowship Award - IGBO for the Canadian and American 10 Pin Bowling Association.

 

Lucien lived his life the way he chose too with no regrets and he will be missed by so many who will  miss those wonderful afternoons at the Pub on Grant Street.

 

Celebration of life to be held Sunday, August 25, from 1:00p.m. - 4:00p.m. At Smithville United Church. Cremation has taken  place and Lucien will be laid to rest in both Parry Sound, Ont  and Nicolet, Quebec at future dates.
