Condolences
Mr. Jones (which I called him until the end) was a very special man in my life. He and Mrs. Jones are my Niagara Falls parents and hold a deep grip on my heart. From my very first meeting with them back in 1987 when I moved to Niagara as a teenager searching for new - I was always loved and forever welcomed in their home without judgement. I truly wish that I had words to express just how deeply this man affected my life - but he knew...I was his comedic relief and - as he told me more than once - his breath of fresh air. From the time you taught me how to light the pilot light on my furnace - until your last gift of an antique heating grate that you found behind your freezer - your selflessness and compassion for others will forever be part of what I try to be. Your love of adventure has been embraced by Karen and me and I am forever in your debt for passing along that amazing trait!!!
If you happen to run into a man named Alvin Cudmore up there - tell him who you are...he would be happy to meet you.
I taught with Gord while we were both at NFCVI. I distinctly remember that he was the first one who complained about the smoking in our staff lunch room. Good ol Gord was ahead of the times since this was in the 70's and he was criticized for stating his opinion on the matter. I admired him for not backing down. Gord was such an individual! He was always friendly and easy to talk to. What a life he lived. It was never boring. It seemed that he never rested - he was always planning his next adventure! You will be missed Gord. Gordon, You will be so missed. You lit up a room wherever you went with your Glow and Laughter. You have a special place in my heart. Your daughter Linda being my amazing friend. Your friendship, and being a special colleague to my Uncle Don Brockwell. The beautiful performance that you put on at my cousin Derek Brockwell’s wedding with your Harmonica. Your family, Your tour groups, And all of your friends. You were so special to so many. God Bless you. To an amazing Man. God definitely is gifted to have you.
As a former student at NFCVI I remember Mr. Jones with fondness. I recall the day that he met us in the doorway to his classroom wearing the full traditional dress of one of the countries that he had visited. "Geography Jones" as we respectfully referred to him, brought our studies to life. He asked us to remember about the country of Andorra. He said "If you remember nothing else, remember that they are known for sheep and postage stamps!" It has been 50 years since he told us that and I will never forget!
My sincere condolences in the lost of your precious husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. May your memories of him be a blessing to you as you rejoice in the resurrection.
Sincerely,
Debra Cormier MacDonald

My sincerest thoughts and prayers of support are extended to the Jones family. Gord was a teacer at NFCVI during my school years (1971-76) and I came across him many times, either at stores such as Zehrs, Grace Gospel Church or as a visitor at our funeral home, Morse &Son. I believe that he possible sang barbershop with my father, Gordon, through the NF barbershop chorus group. Always enjoyed speaking with him. God bless you all on your “journey of grief and loss.”
Doreen our sincere condolences to you and the family. We remember when you and Gord were married. Doesn't seem so long ago. Gord was a very interesting fellow. A true gentleman and scholar. Will be missed by all.

Doreen and family please accept our sincerest condolences. He will be dearly missed as he was a great neighbor and thoughtful friend. Right from the get go when we moved here from the Ottawa Valley, Gord was over introducing himself and welcoming us to the neighborhood. When he would drive by, he'd roll down the window. smile and voice out a friendly greeting. He invited me to numerous monthly men's breakfasts over at the church on Valley Way and of course, he introduced me to all; so appreciated. We enjoyed many a coffee with him and friends at Tim's. He often asked about our grandchildren and how they were doing. He was quick to talk proudly about his family and at his 90th birthday got to meet all his daughters, brother and so many friends. Gord loved his travels and often he spoke fondly of them. He took a lot of interest maintaining his grass, his gardens and lush backyard and what a joy it was to walk around the property with him. There was so much good in this man, someone I'll always remember with joy and respect. His soul is now with the Lord and is at peace.
I will never forget when we first met , was not to long ago.
I heard so much of a loving father from Linda. And I saw it I. Your eyes the sparkle. I rubbed your feet and started a trend so glad I brought some joy to you. . I’m sure there are foot massages in heaven . Wish I could have done it one more time for you . God Bless you because you blessed everyone around you. You will be mussed

My deepest condolences to Linda, Susan, Karen and families.
All through my educational years, Mr. Jones was my favourite teacher. His wit, charm and zest for life made it fun to go to school. The stories he used to share each morning sparked the students interests and we couldn’t wait to hear the next.
RIP Mr. Jones
