RICKER, Dawn Cecillia (nee Nyomtato)

Dawn passed away peacefully, surrounded by love, on Saturday, August 17, 2019, at Juravinski Hospital, at the age of 69.  Beloved wife of Gary for 47 years.  Loved mother of Adrianne (Rick Singh) and Michael.  Cherished "Nen" of Ayden, Gabrielle, Ilena and Ava. Dear sister of Wayne Nyomtato and Joe Nyomtato (Chris) and sister-in-law of Carl Ricker (Nolda), Stan Ricker (Bonnie), Diane Prysiazniuk, Karen Kohut (Andy), Marlene Jeffries, Donna Griffin (Wray), Joan Sanders (Bud), and chosen sister Katie Trombetta.  Predeceased by her parents Frank and Mary Nyomtato, and parents-in-law Roy and Hilda Swick.  Dawn had a special zest for life and touched the lives of everyone that had the pleasure of knowing her.  Dawn was a school bus driver for St. Martin’s School for 25 years, and also answered emergency phone calls for many years for the West Lincoln Fire Department prior to 911. She will be truly missed.  Special thanks to the wonderful doctors, nurses on C Ward, ICU, and Chemo Ward, and staff at Juravinski Hospital and Cancer Centre for all of your care and attention, especially Dr. Kazemi. Special mention and heartfelt thanks to the members of the West Lincoln Fire Department, close friends, neighbours and family members, for all of your support. You have all truly made this journey easier. Visitation at Merritt Funeral Home, 287 Station Street, Smithville on Tuesday, August 20 from 4-9 p.m. with Vigil Prayers at 4 p.m.  Mass at St. Martin of Tours Roman Catholic Church, 166 West Street (Regional Rd 20), Smithville on Wednesday, August 21 at 11 a.m. with Christian burial at Merritt’s United Church Cemetery.  Memorial donations to Juravinski Cancer Centre Foundation would be appreciated by the family and if desired can be made through the funeral home, merritt-fh.com
