Obituary of John Wielink

WIELINK, JOHN:  At Hospice Niagara on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at 9:00 p.m., John Wielink passed away at the age of 78.  Beloved husband of Viola, cherished father of Shari (Gary) Archambault, Neil (Elaine) Wielink, Lori (Ace) Milner, stepdaughters Monique (Dave) Leblanc and Tammy (Phillip) Bibeau.  Dear grandfather to Derek (Jamie), Jessi (Carla), Michelle, Sean, Jonathan, Tyler, Ace, Nicole, Sabrina and Samantha.  Dear great grandfather to Carter.  John will be sadly missed by his mother Faye (100 years old), brothers Bill (Lyne) Doppenberg, Harry (Linda) Wielink, Henry (Maria) Wielink, Gary (Clara) Wielink and Keith (Ann) Wielink, sisters Grace (Kor) Hamming, Angie (Randy) Thorogood, Klaase (Henk) Kleine of Holland and Faye (Louis) DeJong, and also many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews from New Brunswick and Ontario as well as his mother-in-law.  Predeceased by his first wife Olga Boychuk, father Cornelius Wielink, birth mother Aaltines Aosman, half brother Hendrik Doppenberg and grandson Ryan Milner.  John was born in Holland and came to Canada in 1950 with his mother, father, and family.  He was a hard working man with 40 years of service at General Motors, retiring in 1994.  He was a member of the Smithville Legion and the Moose Lodge.  Special thanks to Dr. Brian Leonard and Dr. Oliverio for their support.  Visitation at Merritt Funeral Home, 287 Station Street, Smithville on Friday, November 24 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at Immaculee Conception, 99 Garnet Street, St. Catharines on Saturday, November 25 at 11 a.m.  If desired, memorial donations to Hospice Niagara can be made through the funeral home.
