Obituary of Hilda Dent

DENT, HILDA (nee Kooistra): It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our mother Hilda at West Lincoln Memorial Hospital in Grimsby on Sunday, January 1, 2017 after a brief illness. She was in her 86th year. Born in Zwaagwesteinde, Friesland, The Netherlands, Hilda came to Canada in 1956 and made a life for herself with her family in Smithville. Predeceased by her husband Robert Clayton Dent (2006) and sister Grace (2006). Loving mother of Charles (Sandy), Fred, Stan (Melinda), Robert (Julie), and cherished Beppe of Devon, Ashley, Derek, Rachel, Aaron, Colleen, James and Daniel, and great Beppe of Hailey, Daniel, Olive and Lily. Hilda was an active member of Grace Reformed Church in Dunnville and volunteered with Shalom Manor in Grimsby as well as canvassing for the Canadian Cancer Society. Visitation will be at Merritt Funeral Home, 287 Station Street, Smithville on Wednesday, January 4th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held at Grace Reformed Church, 514 George Street, Dunnville on Thursday, January 5th at 11 a.m. Special thanks to Dr. Pierce and Dr. White, and the nursing staff of first floor C Ward at West Lincoln Memorial Hospital. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Salvation Army or the Canadian Diabetes Association as well as online condolences can be made through the funeral home.
