Obituary of William Katradis

KATRADIS, VASILIOS: A remarkable man, renowned as Uncle Bill, who lived life the way he saw fit, Vasilios (William) Katradis passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, August 28, 2016 at the age of 91. Born in Petrina, Sparti, Lakonias, Greece, he was the son of Ioannis and Anastasia Katradis, and arrived in Canada in the 1950s. Bill was a brother to the late Konstantine Katradis (Stavroula), and is survived by his brother Elias Katradis (the late Maria), and sisters Katerini Bacopoulos (the late Sotiri), Efthemia Georgakakos (the late Anastasios), and Fotoula Michalopoulos (the late Saranto). He will be missed by his nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews. He always did it his way and will be sorely missed. Visitation at Merritt Funeral Home, 287 Station Street, Smithville on Tuesday, August 30 from 6-9 p.m. with Prayers at 7 p.m. The funeral procession will leave from the funeral home at 10 a.m. for the Divine Liturgy which will be celebrated at St. Katherine Greek Orthodox Church, 585 Niagara Street, St. Catharines on Wednesday, August 31 at 11 a.m. Interment Smithville United Church Cemetery, Smithville. If desired, memorial donations to St. Katherine Greek Orthodox Church would be appreciated by the family and can be made through the funeral home.
