Dear Emma, Shane, Deidre, Tabitha, Rhoda, Debbie and Guy,

We're so sorry about Jacob's sudden passing. I know we played as children, but I didn't get to know my cousin very well as an adult. However, I have been lucky to see Emma nearly every summer. The fact that Jake helped to raise such a smart, caring and independent young woman tells me that he was a good father, and that's one of the most important things a person can do with their life.

We wish we could be there to help comfort you all.

Debbie, I was so sad when Mary Lou told me about Jacob. It's been many years since I last saw him as a little boy but have never forgotten him. I still have the Pendelfin house that fell on his head when he tried to climb my dresser:)
