A magnificent man that had a tremendous impact on the Community of Smithville and my personal life will be sadly missed by many. I have vivid memories watching Joe, with his metal mesh mask and huge chest protector, umpire so many baseball games. I remember him organizing countless fundraisers to secure the necessary funds for our local hockey rink. I can still see the big red thermometer showing the status of his efforts. I recall Joe skating feverishly up and down the length of a hockey rink refereeing players of all ages. He had, what seemed, unlimited time to coach hockey teams so that boys would have an opportunity to play. And on a personal note, building spot light stands and light panels for our infamous Rock Band. Randy and Cheryl, I can only offer you both my warmest HUG in your time of sadness. Be proud of your father, he was a man of integrity, a man of compassion, and a selfless man for the community he loved so dearly.
Our hearts and prayers are with you, Randy, Sue, Joe and Jill, and the entire Belcot family.
The battle is over, comrade. Rest in Peace.
