SPURVEY, PETER THOMAS: Passed peacefully at Port Colborne General Hospital on Saturday August 1, 2015 at the age of 71 surrounded by his loving family. Leaving to mourn, his loving and devoted wife of 47 years, Stella Spurvey (nee Niejadlik). Dear father to Lisa Spurvey (Ed King), Debbie (Steve) Hancock and Melinda (Mark) Turner and proud Papa to Blake, Macie and Honor. Lovingly remembered by his brother Denis (Alice) Spurvey, Sisters Patricia (Richard) Quilty and Glenda (Gerry) Ducey, sister-in-law Angeline Niejadlik, brother-in-law Tony Niejadlik and by his nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Denis and Margaret Spurvey (nee Griffiths), brother Leo Spurvey and in-laws William and Anne Niejadlik and brother-in-law Stan Niejadlik. Born on July 22, 1944 and raised in Fox Harbour, Newfoundland, Peter moved to Ontario in 1964. He worked for 43 years as a truck driver, a job he truly loved, and received numerous awards and accolades for his long-haul driving ability. In his downtime, he was happiest being outdoors caring for his home and property, being by the water or in his sailboat, canoe or dory. He loved returning to Newfoundland each and every year with his family and instilled a sense of Newfoundland pride and heritage to his daughters. He was very proud of his wife, daughters and his grandchildren and was happiest when he was with his family and friends. He loved animals, especially his dogs, and graciously helped those in need. He will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him. A Funeral Mass to celebrate his life will be held on Saturday August 8, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Martin of Tours RC Church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made through the funeral home to the Canadian Cancer Society or The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
