TOMASCIN, MICHAEL: Peacefully at his home in Smithville with Heather by his side, Michael Lawrence Tomascin passed away on Sunday, January 4, 2015 at the age of 52. Beloved husband and best friend of Heather Virginia Tomascin (nee Conway) for 32 years. Loving father of Carolyn Vaughan (Chris Ohlhoff), Michael Tomascin (Julia) and Alexandra Martinez (Isaac). Cherished by his grandchildren James Frazier Vaughan and Ana Elisabeth Ohlhoff. Predeceased by his father Michael Tomascin, Mike is also survived by and will be missed by his mother Anne Tomascin, sisters Christine Congrady (Craig) and Joan Anne Milovick (the late Gary), nephews Michael Milovick (Jenn Shingler) and Matt Milovick (Heidi), mother-in-law Maureen Conway (the late Denis), brother-in-law Dan Conway (Kathy), niece Ellen Wilson (Jamie) and nephew Stuart Conway (Laura Varley), sister-in-law Laurie Conway (the late Fred Reynolds), and brother-in-law Andy Conway. A graduate of The University of Guelph (1983), Mike earned his Ontario Diploma of Agriculture and was a life long farmer in Smithville and a valued employee of Egger Truck and Machine in Dunnville. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus (St. Martin Church). Visitation at Merritt Funeral Home, 287 Station Street, Smithville on Wednesday, January 7 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm with Prayers at 4pm. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at St. Martin of Tours Roman Catholic Church, 166 West Street (Regional Rd 20), Smithville on Thursday, January 8 at 11 am with interment in the church’s adjoining cemetery. If desired, memorial donations to St. Martin of Tours Elevator Fund or the Canadian Farmers with Disabilities Registry would be appreciated by the family and can be made through the funeral home.
