URQUHART, DON: Passed away peacefully at Linhaven Home in his 88th year on Thursday, February 20, 2014. Beloved husband of Ada (nee Green) of 67 years. Father of Linda (Dale McLin – deceased), Donna and Mary. Grandfather of Lara (Shannon Matechuk) and Nancy (Todd Woods). Great-grandfather of Kyra, Erika and Ryker. Predeceased by great-grandson Taylor Don Bass. Predeceased by brothers Bill, Andy, George, Dave, Ron and Kenneth and sisters Betty Black, Chris Malast and Jesse Spiece. Will also be missed by many nieces and nephews. Don worked at General Motors in St. Catharines for 33 years and was a member of the Smithville Volunteer Fire Department for 40 plus years. The Family would like to thank the staff at Linhaven for their wonderful care and compassion. Visitation at Merritt Funeral Home, 287 Station Street, Smithville Friday, February 28 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral service to be held at the Smithville United Church, 116 West Street (Regional Rd 20) on Saturday, March 1 at 11 am. Cremation has taken place. Interment at the United Church Cemetery to follow the service. If desired, donations in lieu of flowers to Smithville United Church or Linhaven Home would be appreciated by the family and can be made through the funeral home.
