SWICK, ROY:  With great sadness the family announces the passing of a dear father, grandfather, and great grandfather, at West Lincoln Memorial Hospital in Grimsby, on Wednesday, December 8, 2010, Roy Horace Swick of Smithville in his 86th year.  Beloved husband of the late Hilda Jennie Swick (nee Killins, 2003).  Loving father of Donna and Wray Griffin, and Joan and Bud Sanders, and stepfather of Carl and Nolda Ricker, Stanley and Bonnie Ricker, Gary and Dawn Ricker, Diane Prysiazniuk, Karen and Andy Kohut, and Marlene Jeffries.  Cherished grandfather of 21 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren.  Roy will also be missed by sister Marion Smith (the late Laverne), sister-in-law Molly Swick, brother-in-law Harley Smith, sister-in-law Twila  Crooks (Hugh), and brother-in-law Harold Killins (Vera).  Predeceased by his siblings Myrtle Merritt (Vincent), Vera Lampman (Ken), Hilton (Ruth), Evelyn Johnson (Ron), Morley, Kenneth (Ruth), Doris Waite (Wray), Muriel Edwards (William “Buck”), Lena Smith, and brother-in-law Lorne Killins.  Roy was a WWII Veteran serving with the RHLI, Past Master Coronation Lodge 502 (1972), 32nd degree of the Scottish Rite, member of the Royal Canadian Legion Br. 393, former West Lincoln Fire Chief, and former West Lincoln Hydro Superintendent.  Friends may call at Merritt Funeral Home, 287 Station Street, Smithville on Saturday, December 11 from 7-9 pm and Sunday, December 12 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm.  The funeral service will be held at Smithville United Church, 116 West Street (Regional Rd 20) Smithville on Monday, December 13 at 10:30 am with interment at the church’s adjoining cemetery.  If desired, memorial contributions to Smithville United Church or Merritts United Church would be appreciated by the family and can be made through the funeral home .
