SILVERTHORNE, BRUCE: At West Lincoln Memorial Hospital in Grimsby on Friday, December 31, 2010, Cecil Bruce Silverthorne of Beamsville, in his 83rd year. Beloved husband of the late Marjorie (2002, nee Atkinson). Loving father of Lorne and Joan of Dunnville, and the late Stephanie Stirtzinger (2002). Deeply missed by his grandson Steven. Cherished by his six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Dear brother of Pearl James (and the late Joe James) and Fern Stefanik (and the late Paul), father-in-law of Keith Stirtzinger and brother-in-law of Ruby Silverthorne. Also predeceased by brothers Ross and Floyd. Special thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff at St. Catharines General Hospital and West Lincoln Memorial Hospital for their compassionate care and efforts. Friends may call at Merritt Funeral Home, 287 Station Street, Smithville on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at 11 am. Interment Pleasantview Memorial Gardens, Fonthill. If desired, memorial contributions to the Canadian Red Cross or the Lung Association would be appreciated by the family and can be made through the funeral home.
