FINN, VIOLET (nee Hiscott): At Heritage Green Nursing Home in Stoney Creek on Wednesday, June 9, 2010, Violet Alice Eunice Finn of Smithville, passed away in her 96th year. Beloved wife of the late A. Leonard Finn. Loving mother of Robert and Madeline Finn, Frederick and Norine Finn, and Ruth and Tony Van Kooten. Cherished grandmother of 9 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and one great great grandson. Dear sister of Holly Muir and Lillian Romagnoli. Predeceased by brothers Edmar and Everett Hiscott and sister Marion Wilkinson. Violet taught elementary school most of her life in Canboro, Gypsum Mines, Decewsville, Smithville and Beamsville. After retirement she remained active by co-authoring a history book “West Lincoln: Our Links With the Past”. She also hosted oil painting classes in her Smithville home for many years. Visitation and the funeral service will be held at Merritt Funeral Home, 287 Station Street, Smithville on Saturday, June 12 with visitation at 10 am and the service at 11 am. Interment Union Cemetery. If desired, memorial contributions to Smithville United Church would be appreciated by the family and can be made through the funeral home.
