Obituary of Jessie Mary Senn

Please share a memory of Jessie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Peacefully at The Village of Wentworth Heights, Jessie Mary, in her ninety-fourth year, passed away surrounded by family on September 21, 2022. Mom leaves behind daughters Pat and Judy [Rick], son Bill [Laurie]. She was the proud and loving grandmother of Brandon. She is survived by her sister Cathy [Lloyd] and her sister-in-law Frances. Predeceased by her parents, Charlie and Bertha Burns of Grimsby, brother Harold Burns [Frances] and sister Marlene Douglas [Jim]. Her greatest wish in her last few months was to be re-united with Dad [Leonard], her loving husband of 71 years who passed away in January of this year. Mom was a devoted wife, mother, homemaker and prior to having children, worked at Adlers Furniture in Hamilton. As part of her devotion to family and friends she was co-creator of the many furniture pieces that Dad made in his workshop and was the “finisher” of the works of art that grace our homes. Mom was always willing to “host” friends and family, especially for wonderful meals and usually sending a bag of her delicious gingersnaps home with all. She became both a friend and matriarch to all and will be missed and lovingly remembered. We would like to thank the “Angels” of The Village of Wentworth Heights for their caring and compassion shown during Mom’s final months under such trying times. You are special and we are forever grateful. Now that Mom and Dad are re-united and in keeping with their love story a joint celebration of life will be held Friday, September 30, 2022 at Merritt Funeral Home 287 Station Street, Smithville Ontario. Visitation at 1:00 p.m., Service at 2:00 p.m.Immediately following, a reception will be held at Smithville United Church, 116 West Street. Interment at Abingdon Presbyterian Church Cemetery will take place prior to the service for the immediate family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the SPCA, Glanbrook Community Services or Glanbrook Community Food Bank and can be made through the funeral home Merritt-fh.com or (905)957-7031
