WASSENAAR, John:  On Tuesday, August 17, 2021 our Heavenly Father called His child, John Wassenaar, into eternal rest.  Loving husband of Henriette (Reinink) for 32 years.  Dear father to 4, Opa to 8 with 2 on the way:  Janine and Mark Costello and their children Isaiah, Nolan, Callum, and Cobie; Garrett and Shannon; Jonathan and Katy and their child Reid; Shannon and Nathan Theune and their children Faith, Genevieve, and Thalia.  John was born in Dunnville, Ontario on June 2, 1962, the son of the late George and the late Jane Wassenaar.  John was a dear brother/brother-in-law to Wenda (Jim) Veldman, Marion (Richard) Rahm, Frances (Sid) Bosma, Charlene (Tim) VandenEnde, Willy-Jane (Dave) VanDyken, Kor (Hilda) Reinink, Will (Rita) Reinink, the late Fred (Marg) Reinink, Jenny (Henry) Vos, Liz (Evert) Stryker, and Bert (Carol) Reinink.  Dear son-in-law to the late Frank and the late Cobie Reinink, and dear step-son to Peter Brouwer.  Dear step-brother of the late Sid (Carol-Ann) Brouwer, Ben (Jean) Brouwer, Flory (Charlie) Fluit, Stan (Susan) Brouwer, and Gerald (Bev) Brouwer.  John was dearly loved by his uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.  Family and friends may visit on Sunday, August 22 from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Wainfleet Be In Christ Church, 53007 Perry Road, Wainfleet, Ontario, masks and social distancing required.  Due to current CoVid restrictions, a private funeral service will be held with Pastor Ralph ten Brinke and Pastor Jamie Shepherd officiating.  There will be an option available to watch the service online (YouTube Wainfleet BIC live stream and follow link) on Monday, August 23 beginning at approximately 10:00 a.m.  Interment at Riverside Cemetery in Wellandport.  If desired, memorial donations to Rose City Kids, Welland, would be appreciated by the family.
