Obituary of Irene Leontis
Irene (Ειρήνη) Leontis (nee Christodoulou) passed peacefully on January 1st, 2021 at the age of 82. She is survived by her loving husband Antonios, by her daughters, Evanthia and Athina (Nick), her grandchildren, Xanthi and Andoni, and sisters, Angela (Isidoros) and Evangelia (Costantinos). She is predeceased by her parents, Niko and Athina, and her brother, Stavros. Irene was born in Latomi, Chios, Greece and immigrated to Canada in 1961. She first arrived in Montreal, where she met and married her husband of 56 years. They then moved to Toronto and eventually settled in Beamsville in 1967, where they raised their family, worked hard, and built a successful business. Irene was a strong, hard-working, and kindhearted woman, who greeted every challenge with a courageous spirit. She will always be remembered for her loving nature and genuine smile. She greatly enjoyed the company of her family and friends. The family extends a sincere thank you to the entire staff at Oakwood Park Lodge for their unrelenting love and care in her final days. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks for donations to be made in Irene’s name to Parkinson Canada. She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends. Forever in our hearts, may her memory be eternal.
Due to CoVid restrictions, the Divine Liturgy will be private at St. Katherine Greek Orthodox church, on Tuesday, January 5th.
