Please share a memory of Michael to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

CALVERT, Michael:  Very peacefully after a 5 month battle with cancer, Michael left us on May 12, 2019 at the young age of 51.  He will leave a great void in the life of his wife of 30 years, Kathy, their children Megan (Corey) Gibson and Eric (Emily) Calvert, and their grandchildren Holley, Robert, and Tanner Gibson.  He was looking forward to meeting his next granddaughter (Elsie) in August.  Mike will be dearly missed by his mother Phyllis Collins and siblings Donna (Joe) Mast, Jennifer (Robby) Moseley, Wayne (Natalie) Collins, and Josh (Shannon) Collins; his mother and father-in-law Bruce and Janis Hunter, sisters-in-law Karen (Larry) Mans, Kelly Jarvis, Kristiann (Jeremy) Starr, and brother-in-law Kyle (Heather) Hunter.  He will be missed by his many nieces and nephews. Mike leaves behind many aunts, uncles and cousins on both sides, who he loved dearly.  Mike was predeceased by his father John Calvert and step-father Wayne Collins; cousins Greg Dietz and Matt Huber, uncle Garry Dietz, his Godmother and aunt Harriet Culbert, and uncle Gerry Huber.  He will be missed by his co-workers at Smyth Welding and Machine Shop in Dungannon as well as an abundance of wonderful friends in both Huron/Bruce and the Niagara area.  Mike loved the outdoors and spending time with his family, which was so very important to him. Visitation will be held at Merritt Funeral Home, 287 Station Street in Smithville, Ontario on Thursday, May 16, 2019 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m.  A small family funeral will be held at the Smithville United Church at 116 West Street on Friday, May 17, 2019 at 11 a.m.  An informal come and go Celebration of Life will be held at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 99 Kerr Drive in Wingham, Ontario on Sunday, May 19, 2019 from 1-4 p.m. for family and friends in Huron/Bruce.  Cremation has taken place.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Easter Seals Ontario, to the WLMH Hospital Auxiliary, or to the Patient Experience Fund for the ICU Department at Juravinski Hospital in Hamilton.  The family would like to thank the wonderful people at Juravinski Hospital in both the Cancer Clinic and ICU for their exceptional care of Mike, the nurses from the LIHN as well as the staff of West Lincoln Memorial Hospital and Dr. Joan Bellaire for their incredibly compassionate care.
