MERRITT, JEAN: On Friday, March 14, 2008, Jean Bernice Merritt (nee Smith) of Charlton and previously of Smithville, Ontario, called Home to be with her Lord in her 83rd year. Jean was the beloved wife of Sidney Merritt for over 60 years. She was a loving mother to Judy Merritt of Sudbury, Sharon and Jim Yent of Redwater, Alberta, Betty and Keith Rodel of Pontypool, Debbie and Owen Babcock of Charlton, Tim and Cheryl Merritt of Aurora, Lori and Steven Prince of Dane, and Mark Merritt of Charlton. Cherished by grandchildren Ben, Steven, Nathan, Jennifer, David, Eldon, Shannon, Rebecca, William, John, Patrick, Jake, Diane and great-grandchildren Cooper and Emma. Sadly missed by her nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her sister Dorothy Alward and her husband Harry. Friends may call at the Merritt Funeral Home, 287 Station Street, Smithville on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday at Caistor Centre Free Methodist Church, 8488 Regional Road 65 (corner of Regional Road 6) in Caistor Centre with visitation at 1 pm and the service beginning at 2 pm.
