LAIDMAN, BERNIE: At Juravinski Hospital, in Hamilton, on Sunday, September 16, 2012, Bernard (Bernie) Clayton Laidman of Grassie passed away, with family at his side, in his 66th year. Bernie was the beloved husband and best friend of Kathy (nee Franz) for more than 43 years, and loving father to sons Jeffrey and Scott and daughters-in-law Darlene and Carly. Honorary grandfather of Cody and Dawson. Loving son of Ken and Bea Laidman and brother of Donald, Randy (Luke) and his wife Darlene, and Debbie Ellis. He will also be missed by his nieces Brigette and Breeanne and their families, and in-laws Linda Franz, Russ Bays, Janie (Alison) Murchie and Tim Welbourn as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Predeceased by his brother-in-law Bob Murchie. Bernie owned and operated B. Laidman Plumbing Ltd. for 31 years, retiring this past January. An avid member of the Classic Ford Truck Club, Haldimand Chapter, he was also Chairman of the Poultryfest Classic Car and Truck Show from 2000 to 2010. He was involved for many years with the Smithville Christmas in the Village Parade Committee. Former member of Local 67 Plumbers and Pipefitters Union. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at Smithville United Church, 116 West Street Smithville on Saturday, September 22, 2012 beginning at 11 am followed by the funeral service at 2 pm. AT THE REQUEST OF THE FAMILY, PLEASE NO FLOWERS. Memorial donations to McNally House , the Canadian Cancer Society, or Juravinski Hospital would be appreciated by the family.
