Please share a memory of Richard to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
ALKERTON, RICHARD: It is with extreme sadness we announce the passing of Richard James Alkerton, a wonderful husband, father and grandfather in his 58th year on July 30, 2010 after a short illness. Son of Stanley Alkerton and (the late) Susan Alkerton. He will be sadly missed and always remembered by his wife Brenda and children Candice Rikki and James Richard, Courtney and Brandon, and dearly missed papa of grandchildren Raven, Eternity and Kaylee. He also leaves behind many wonderful friends who hold many fond memories of him. Richard graduated Mohawk College in Industrial Management Technology in 1996, one of his greatest achievements, an accomplishment for which he was extremely proud of and for five years ran the IMT Golf Tournament. Richard was an employee of M J Manufacturing, Mississauga in mechanical maintenance where he formed many friendships. He had a real passion for the outdoors and wildlife being an avid hunter and fisherman and will be missed by all his “Reelbuddies”. Whether he was out riding his motorcycle or showing kids how to make maple syrup on weekends in his backyard, he always enjoyed exposing others to his pastimes. His goal each day was to enjoy life to it’s fullest which he did with no regrets and to make twenty people smile each day, a goal that he always surpassed. Thanks to Maggie for all your care and attention in the past few weeks. Richard appreciated all your help and concern and love. Special thanks to CCAC Niagara and the St. Elizabeth Nurses Barb, Leona and Chris, Palliative Care Team of West Lincoln Hospital Grimsby, Dr Bellaire, Dr. Marshall and Mary Catherine. Respecting his wishes, no funeral will be held. A celebration of his life will be held at his home on Saturday, August 21, 2010. In lieu of flowers donations to the West Niagara Palliative Care Team would be greatly appreciated, and can be made through the funeral home. “When your tears are spent on your last pretense, and your tired eyes refuse to close and sleep in your defense. When it’s in your spine like you’ve walked for miles, and the only thing you want is just to be still for while. If your Heart wears thin I will hold you up, and I will hide you when it gets too much. I’ll be right beside you”. Always in our hearts never to be forgotten.
