Obituary of Gertie Cooper

Cooper, Gertrude “Gertie” (nee. Halper)

Gertie passed away suddenly and surrounded by her family at the age of 76.

Gertie is survived by her loving husband, Bob Duke. They enjoyed the last 40 years building a life together and making memories for the family to enjoy.

Born in Austria, Gertie moved to Canada at the age of 6 with her mother Thersea. She lived in Toronto for many years before settling in Mississauga, where she raised the loves of her life, her daughters. Gertie will be forever missed by Tracy (Ernie) and Denise. 

Gertie was a caring and loving mother first and foremost and Elvis fan second, but her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the apples of her eye. Proud Grandma to Lyndsay (Mac), Michael (Meghan), Lauren (Mike), Jessica (Drew), Austin (Kate), Hannah, adoring Omi to Finn, Bradlee, Brooks, Alice, and Henry.

Gertie was loved by everyone who knew her. She was kind, generous, thoughtful, and truly the best person to be around. We love you and will miss you always.
