Jim ‘Gus’ Koroneos
January 30, 1971 – August 30, 2024

Jim ‘Gus’ Koroneos, a beloved son, husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 30, 2024, in St. Catharines.  His passing leaves a profound void in the hearts of all who knew him.  His legacy of love, perseverance, strength and dedication will be everlasting.

Gus is survived by his loving wife Taren and their cherished children, Aria and Zoie.  He is also lovingly remembered by his mother Rita and his siblings Dena (Harry), Tessie (Jim) and Peter (Rozina) and nieces and nephews, Katerina, Taso, Dean, Tommy, Anastasi, Areti, Christina and George, who meant so much to him and were a large part of his life. He was predeceased by his father Anastasios.  Gus will be deeply missed by his extended family and many friends, who will forever treasure his passion, wisdom, generosity, and love.

Gus grew up on a poultry farm in Smithville, where he developed a deep appreciation for the outdoors and the value of hard work.  These early lessons shaped his character, influencing every endeavour he undertook.

Gus had an exceptional ability to bring people together and lead conversations with ease.  His gregarious and outgoing nature was impossible to overlook.  He had an entertaining way of expressing his opinions and a refreshingly honest sense of humour.  His genuine eagerness to listen and offer meaningful advice uplifted those around him, always motivating and inspiring others.

An enthusiastic leader and entrepreneur, Gus was known for his fearless and thoughtful approach to new ventures, his ambitious drive, and his love for his community.  His dedication was evident through his active participation on various boards, committees, campaigns and many other community engagements from beautification, healthcare, transportation, agriculture and as a commissioner at the Niagara District Airport.

In addition to operating two successful denture and hearing clinics, Gus devoted years of leadership and advocacy to his profession.  As a past President of the College of Denturists of Ontario, he championed initiatives that enhanced regulatory standards and professional development, fostering a culture of continuous improvement within the field.

Gus had a passion for politics and creating change.  He had previously acted as President of the board of the Niagara Falls Provincial Conservative Electoral District Association (EDA) and Vice-President of the Niagara Falls Federal Conservative EDA.

His countless contributions and successful business ventures were a testament to his drive, work ethic and unwavering commitment, but the love for his family was his most defining trait.

Gus’ family was his greatest treasure. He was happiest when enjoying time with family, cooking meals for loved ones and sharing good conversation. Gus’ pride and joy were his two young daughters.  His love for them was boundless.  He devoted himself wholeheartedly to nurturing and guiding them, approaching every moment with them with the same passion that defined his life. Whether he was sharing laughter and playing games, supporting their dreams, or simply enjoying the warmth of family time while watching movies cozied up by the fireplace, Gus’ love was a constant, steadfast presence in their lives.

When Gus was diagnosed with cancer, he approached it with the same determination as he did his career and his family. He tirelessly sought out information and care, doing everything he could to strengthen and heal his body. He fought through pain and discomfort, keeping his hope and humour throughout. He attended events when he could, striving to be present for his beloved family. Even though he could not overcome the cancer, his positivity and strength will live on in our hearts and memories. Gus’ spirit will continue to inspire and guide us, reminding us of the importance of family, leadership, and to find the courage to embrace life’s challenges.

Though we say goodbye to a truly extraordinary man, his legacy will forever inspire those he left behind. His spirit will shine brightly in the hearts of his family, especially his daughters, Aria and Zoie, who will carry his love with them always. Rest in peace, dear Gus. You will be forever loved, deeply missed, and remembered.
