 Passed away at West Lincoln Memorial Hospital on February 9, 2023 in her 87th year. Predeceased by her husband William Sawchuk (d. 1991), her son Andy (d. 2016), and her son Eddie (d. 2015). Loved mother of Betty, Mike (Theresa), and mother in law to Ann. Nancy’s legacy will live on in her grandchildren and great grandchildren Paige, Michael (Jenna), Hazel, and Levi. Dear Sister of Mary (Mike). Nancy began her life journey in Montreal, and at the age of 20 moved to Grimsby, Ontario.  It was in Grimsby where Nancy set down roots, raised her family and worked on the family vineyard.  She loved being busy and being outdoors and continued working in the fields well into her golden years. Along with her family and the farm, Nancy spent time with her pets, she loved her four legged companions and travelled everywhere with them. Nancy cherished her friends and made new ones everywhere she went.  To those her junior she was Auntie Nancy. Nancy was an active member of St. Martin’s Parish in Smithville for many years. She will be remembered for her kindness, boundless energy and her obsession with cleaning her house. Visitation will take place at the Merritt Funeral Home, 287 Station Street, Smithville on Tuesday, February 14th from 5:00-9:00 P.M. Vigil prayers to take place at 6:30 P.M. A Mass of Christian burial will take place on Wednesday, February 15, at St. Martin of Tours Roman Catholic Church, 166 West Street, Smithville at 11:00 A.M.
