SENN, W. Leonard

June 3, 1929 - January 28, 2022

Peacefully at The Village of Wentworth Heights, Leonard, in his ninety-third year, passed away holding the hand of his beloved wife and surrounded by family on January 28, 2022. He leaves behind Jessie, his loving wife of 71 years, daughters Pat and Judy (Rick), son Bill (Laurie). He was the proud and loving grandfather of Brandon. Predeceased by his parents, John and Mary of Smithville, Aunt Maggie, sisters Della and Ena (Elford) and brother Stewart (Jean). For most of his career he worked in the truck parts business for International Harvester in Hamilton until early retirement and then for a number of truck repair companies until full retirement at the age of 65. His true love was family and friends – especially his Jessie, “Mother”, together for 75+ years, his children and grandson - ever willing to do anything that was needed. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him. Preferring wood with its natural grain, checks and imperfections rather than “perfect plastic”, his passion was woodworking. Graduating from “Homemade” to “Hand crafted”, over the years he created and shared many beautiful pieces of furniture including cradles, wall units, kitchen cabinets, desks, shelves and basket cases. The family would like to thank the “Angels” of The Village of Wentworth Heights for their caring and compassion shown during Leonard’s final days under such trying times. You are special and we are forever grateful. In keeping with the love story, Leonard and Jessie have decided that they would prefer a joint celebration of life in the future when they are reunited. Arrangements will be made through Merritt Funeral Home in Smithville at the appropriate time. Memorial donations to SPCA, Glanbrook Community Services or Binbrook Knox Presbyterian Church would be appreciated by the family and can be made through the funeral home (905) 957-7031
