Obituary of Dorothy Jewel Abrams

Dorothy Abrams was a loving mother, grandmother, and sister.  She left the world peacefully Friday morning, December 17, 2021.  She was born to John and Ester Cain on April 15, 1945. She was loved by her late husband Stew Abrams; sons Stewart (Susi) and Mark; grandchildren Joel, Amanda and Jacob; sister Claira Brownlow (Sam). Predeceased by her brothers Jack, Tom, Albert, and sisters Esther, Margret, Violet, Smokie. Sadly missed by several nieces and nephews. Dorothy enjoyed her career at General Motors, pursued time as an alderman for Smithville, and also real estate. She enjoyed being outdoors and traveling in her RV across the country. A great card player, she would play her fellow travelers for the chore of washing dishes. She enjoyed the peaceful country living.  Visitation at Merritt Funeral Home, 287 Station Street, Smithville on Tuesday, December 21 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.  Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, December 22 at 10 a.m. at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church, 166 West Street (Regional Rd 20), Smithville, with limited capacity.  Masks and social distancing required.  Interment Merritt Settlement Cemetery, Smithville.  If desired, memorial donations to Alzheimer’s Society would be appreciated by the family.
