Loving father of the late Laurie, the late Kim, Randy (Charlotte), Wendy (Warren), Jamie (Brenda), and Janene (Mike). Special ‘Dad’ to Charlie, his ‘fifth daughter’. Cherished Grandfather of Jason, Mark, James, Sonja, Neil, Christalynn, Sami, Jesse, Jordie, Courtney, Carly, Brett, and Brock. Also predeceased by his brothers Ron and Dane, his sister Aleta and brother-in-law Gerald. Neil will also be missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins and by his countless friends who he treated like family. Sunny and Neil were teenage sweethearts, married in November 1958. They lived in Bismarck for most of their lives together, raising 6 children and running their business Neil McCollum Ltd. Neil was a big part of his community. He played hockey and baseball, as well as coached and sponsored many teams. He could often be found cheering on his children and grandchildren at their chosen events. Those who knew him often described him as a big man with an even bigger heart and a great sense of humor. Special thanks to the staff and nurses at Edgewater Gardens for their care and support. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a private family viewing and funeral are being held Monday, November 29th and Tuesday, November 30th.
