MONGER, BERNARD: At Albright Manor in Beamsville on Tuesday, January 24, 2017, Bernard George Monger passed away peacefully in his 95th year. Beloved husband of the late Olive Carter. Loving father of Lynda Vanderheyden Pickard (John), Michael Monger (Sharon), Diane Dubeau, Lisa Nicholls (Larry), and Cathy Eybel (Jim). Cherished grandfather of Dale Vanderheyden (Tamara), Glen Vanderheyden (Tamika), Catherine van Dam (Dale), Nicole Dubeau, Paul Dubeau, Derek Monger (Bella), David Monger (Trish), Jason Nicholls, Jennifer Croswell (Greg), Michael Eybel (Katie), Brian Eybel (Riley), and 18 great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter. He will also be remembered by his nephew Kenneth, and nieces Edna, Pat, and Joyce. Predeceased by his brothers James and Raymond. Bernie was a veteran of WWII serving in the British Navy and an honorary member of the Knights of Columbus. He will be remembered by many as "The Cool Man" operating as Bernie's Refrigeration for many years. Visitation at Merritt Funeral Home, 287 Station Street, Smithville on Friday, January 27 from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. with Prayers at 3:45 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church, 166 West Street (Regional Rd 20), Smithville on his 95th birthday, Saturday, January 28 at 10 a.m. with interment in the Church's adjoining cemetery. Memorial donations to Albright Manor would be appreciated by the family and can be made through the funeral home.
