Obituary of Alexandros Philippeos

At his home in Greece on Sunday, August 28, 2016, Alexandros (Alex) Philippeos passed away at the age of 74. Beloved husband of the late Constantina Philippeos. Loving father of Thalia and Steven Raptis, John and Debbie Philippeos, and Angela and Alessandro Cipriano. Cherished grandfather of Fotina, Stergios, Alexander, Dina, Niki, Gerry, Alexander, and Maximilian. Loving son of the late Efthalia and Ioannis Philippeos. Dear brother of Christos (departed) and Kalliopi Filippeos, Sophia and Kyriakos Hatzivaritou (both departed), George (departed) and Pat Filippeos, Basile and Toula Philippeos, and Mary and Nick (departed) Babalos. Visitation at Merritt Funeral Home, 287 Station Street, Smithville on Monday, September 5 from 5-9 p.m. with Prayers at 7 p.m.. The funeral procession will leave from the funeral home at 10 a.m. for the Divine Liturgy which will be celebrated at St. Katherine Greek Orthodox Church, 585 Niagara Street, St. Catharines on Tuesday, September 6 at 11 a.m. Interment Smithville United Church Cemetery, Smithville. If desired, memorial donations to St. Katherine Greek Orthodox Church or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family and can be made through the funeral home.
