Obituary of Donald Russell Waite

WAITE, DONALD: Passed away peacefully at his home in Caistor Centre, with family at his side on Saturday, January 30, 2016, Donald Russell Waite in his 84th year. Beloved husband of the late Joyce (nee Farr) 2002. Loving father of Donna Young (Bill Watson), Shirley Watson (the late Bruce), Sandra Waite, and Wayne Waite (Cheryl). Cherished grandfather of Tammy, Chris, Brad, Krystle, Dereck, Barbara, Charity, Jaime and Jasmine and great grandfather of Caitlyn, Anthony, Samantha, Thomas, Christopher, Hanna, Tristan, Roger, Kaylee, Sophia, Zoie and Dallas. Also survived by his brother Ralph. Predeceased by his parents Robert and Mae (nee Smith) Waite, and by his siblings Roy, Ross, Rita Chrysler, Wray, Earl, Amos, Ruby and Marie Nicholls. Don worked as the custodian of Caistor Centre School for 33 years and was a member of Dunn AA group for 27 years. Many thanks to the staff of Red Cross Care Partners, CCAC, St. Elizabeth Health Care, West Niagara Palliative Care team and the Doctors and staff of the Smithville Medical Centre. Their care and compassion was very much appreciated. Also a heartfelt thank you to all the members of AA who supported Don and his family over the many years. Visitation at Merritt Funeral Home, 287 Station Street, Smithville on Monday February 1, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held at the Caistor Centre Free Methodist Church, 8488 Silver Street (Regional Road 65), Caistor Centre, on Tuesday, February 2 at 12 noon, with visiting beginning at 11 a.m. Interment Abingdon Presbyterian Cemetery. If desired, memorial donations to Caistor Centre Free Methodist Church or to the charity of your choice would be appreciated and can be made through the funeral home.
