Obituary of Evelyn Mary Switzer-Jerome

SWITZER-JEROME, EVELYN (nee Packham): Peacefully passed away at the Grandview Lodge on Friday, October 28, 2016 in her 92nd year. Beloved wife of the late Don Switzer (1983) & the late Stanley Jerome (2015). Loving mother of Karen Switzer-Howse (Clifford) & Neil Switzer (Kathleen). Cherished grandmother to Kerry (Ken) Finch, Adam (Tara) Howse, Sara Howse, Russell (Cindy) Howse, Abraham (Keri) Switzer, Dustin (Lindsay) Switzer & Jonathan Switzer and step-grandmother to Phil (Sandra) Herod, Cindy (Tim) Lipinski, Vicki (Dwayne) Robar & John Paul (the late Gina) Herod. Great-grandmother to Devon & Vivienne Finch. Predeceased by her brother and sister in-law Lorne & Martha (Hysert) Packham and step-daughter Diane Herod. Evelyn was born and lived most of her life on the family farm in the former Twp. of South Grimsby in partnership with Don as well as working as secretary for the Caistor Central School for 25 years. Prior to marriage she worked several years at the National Trust in Hamilton having graduated from the Canada Business College. She was also an active community and church worker being a member of the Caistor Baptist Church, Abingdon Women’s Institute, Smithville Lion’s Club “Lionettes” and the West Lincoln Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. Following many years as a widow Evelyn married Stan and enjoyed her final senior years with Stan in Caledonia. Evelyn loved to travel and visit with family and friends and will be dearly missed by those who knew her. Visitation at Merritt Funeral Home, 287 Station Street, Smithville on Tuesday Nov. 1, 2016 4-7:00 p.m. with Funeral Service on Wednesday November 2, 11:00 a.m. at the Funeral Home with interment to follow at the Caistor Baptist Church. Donations in Ev’s memory may be made to the West Lincoln Memorial Hospital Auxiliary through the funeral home.
