Please share a memory of Joseph to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
MOUS, JOSEPH M: April 30, 1955 – May 22, 2016: It is with incredible sadness that we announce the passing of Joe Mous on Sunday, May 22, 2016 after courageously fighting a second battle with cancer. They say your greatest contributions are the ones you leave behind. Joe leaves behind his wife and best friend Cathy (Shields). Loving daughters Lisa and her husband Trevor and their son Levi, Maryanne and her husband Mike and their children Chloe, Joseph and one on the way, daughter Emily, and Catharine who Joe considered one of his own. Joe also leaves behind his supportive and caring brothers and sisters; Tony (Linda), Frank (Donna), John (Gayle), Bob (Carolyn), Alina (Paul), Karla, Anne, Jim (Edie) and Bill (Jenny). He was predeceased by his father Durk, mother Olga, sister Elizabeth, brothers Jan and Harry and brother in laws Jim and George. Joe always felt blessed to have the love and support from his father in law Bill, in laws Dan (Judy), John (Cathy), Kelly (Mark) and Tom (Loretta). He is predeceased by his mother in law Nancy. He is very grateful and proud of all of his nieces and nephews. Joe had always known what he wanted to do and what he wanted to be. He wanted to be a farmer, have a family and drive his children and grandchildren around in his big green tractor and combine complete with extra seat and seatbelt. He spent his life working on the farm and enjoying spending time with his family and friends. That is what made his life complete. The family would like to sincerely thank Dr. Ann Benger, Kari Kolm, Dr. Andrew Gibson and the amazing doctors, nurses and staff on C4 Ward and ICU at Juravinski Hospital and Cancer Centre in Hamilton, ON. Visitation will be on Thursday, May 26 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at Merritt Funeral Home, 287 Station Street, Smithville with Prayers at 6:30 p.m. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Friday, May 27 at 11 a.m. at St. Martins of Tours, 166 West Street (Regional Rd 20), Smithville. Interment St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church Cemetery. Donations to St. Martin of Tours Parish Knights of Columbus through St. Martin of Tours Church, Smithville or McNally House Hospice would be appreciated by the family and can be made through the funeral home.
